1. Eroica Columbia Valley 2007

Price: $24.99
Maker: Eroica
Varietal: Riesling
Region: Washington

92

Eroica from Chateau Ste. Michelle and Dr. Loosen is a delightful Riesling again this year. The nose of the wine is light with hints of pear and a touch of lime. The light nose leads into a refreshing and crisp wine that is filled with balanced sweet flavors of green apple, pears and a touch of honey, it finishes with a little wet stone that adds the perfect balance. With a list price of $24.99 it’s on the high end for a Riesling but is worth every penny. –KM

This is a wonderful Riesling with a beautiful balance of sweetness and acidity that develops into smooth off-dry wine. The nose of the wine grabs you with aromas of honey and apple and leads you into a well balanced wine with flavors of green apple, pineapple and light citrus flavors. It has been a long time since we found a riesling with this level of balance and with a retail price of $11 a bottle it's a great buy. -KM

This is another delightful Riesling from Chateau Ste. Michelle, a nice off-dry wine with just enough sweetness. The body of the wine explodes with flavors of peach, pear, and a little citrus.

At under $10 a bottle this is a great bottle of wine that can be enjoyed anytime. This will pair beautifully with Asian cooking and seafood with a little spice. -KM

Chateau Ste. Michelle has two Rieslings, this review is for their Dry Riesling.
This crisp and bright Riesling has a refreshing spirit that is well balanced and a bit of attitude that boast elegance.
Recommend to be served with a nice seafood dish, together with a fruit dessert or light to mild cheeses. -JD

6. J. Lohr Bay Mist Monterey 2007

Price: $8.99
Maker: J. Lohr
Varietal: Riesling
Region: California

87

This is an off-dry Riesling; most people will buy this expecting a sweet wine, making this a perfect example of the range of the Riesling grape. The wine itself is very good. Your first sip will remind you a little of a sparkling wine but the flavors come out after a minute and present peaches, pears and a little citrus. -KM

8. Rosemount Diamond Label 2006

Price: $9.99
Maker: Rosemount
Varietal: Riesling
Region: Australia

This is a Dry Riesling with distinct petro fuel aromas on the nose. This will scare many consumers off at first but this smell is common with Rieslings and can be a sign of good wine. And in this case it is an indicator of a good wine; the body brings citrus flavors with grapefruit undertones.

Price: $11.00
Maker: Mirassou
Varietal: Riesling

The wine starts with light floral aromas that lead into a refreshing yet sweet Riesling. Honey, apricots, lemon and a hint of orange flavors come quickly to the front of the palate but fade a little faster then we would like leaving us wanting more.
