1. Cosentino California 2005

Price: $22.00
Maker: Cosentino
Varietal: Cabernet Franc
Region: California

89

The Cabernet Franc grape use to be limited to red blends but, we are starting to see more and more Cabernet Franc wines on the market and this one is a great example of the varietal. The nose is deep and fruit forward with a hint of vanilla. Full bodied with deep black fruit, red cherry with just a little spice and nice long finish. The Franc and other varietals from this label can be found at BevMo.

2. Oops 2006

Price: $12.99
Maker: Oops
Varietal: Cabernet Franc
Region: Chile

88

This is a delightful Cabernet Franc blended with the Carmenere grape. The wine gets its name from the discovery of the Carmenere grape in Chile and includes the story on the bottle.

Strong, chocalate and dark fruit aromas lead to a full bodied wine with deep blackberry, black cherry and pepper notes with a smooth finish. You won't be saying Oops! after you purchase this wine. -KM

3. Ironstone Lodi 2006

Price: $10.00
Maker: Ironstone
Varietal: Cabernet Franc
Region: California

The 2007 Ironstone Cab Franc is a great wine with pronounced vegetal aromas with bell peppers and green beans leading the way. Nicely balanced, with plum, black olive and a hint of raisin finish this off-dry wine. -K.M.
