1. Ironstone Xpression 2007

Price: $8.00
Maker: Ironstone
Varietal: Rose
Region: California

90

The Ironstone Xpression is an impressive Rose for less then $10 a bottle. The nose of the wine has a light floral aroma that leads into a refreshing off-dry medium body with fresh strawberry and watermelon flavors. This is a varietal that has very few good options in our opinion and at just $8 a bottle this is a steal.

3. Friday Monkey 2008

Price: $8.99
Maker: Friday Monkey
Varietal: Shiraz / Syrah

For under $10, this delivers all you could hope for and more. It’s not a big fruit bomb Shiraz, but a great balance and layers of flavors. Dark fruit aromas lead the way into a medium balanced wine with flavors of cherry, strawberry and a touch of oak on the finish. -VFE

5. Redwood Creek 2006

Price: $7.99
Maker: Redwood Creek
Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon

The nose is light but the body shows the flavors well, raspberry is the strong flavor of this wine with a hint of strawberries. We would like the finish to be a little longer but at this price point this is a great buy.

7. White Truck 2007

Price: $9.99
Maker: White Truck
Varietal: White Blends
Region: California

88

This is an interesting white blend of 56% Sauvignon Blanc, 22% Chardonnay, 11% Pinot Grigio and 11% Viognier. The nose of this wine is tart and brings a lemon aroma to the front of your palate. The choice to use no oak during the production of this wine leaves the wine crisp and full of citrus, lemon and grapefruit. The dryness of the wine reminds you of a Pinot Gris but the addition of Sauvignon Blanc in the blend brings the citrus flavor back to the front of your palate.

We would recommend this wine with any seafood dish. When we tasted this wine we had instant thoughts of crab legs and lobster with butter for this wine. With a retail price of $10 this is a tough wine to pass up.

Perfect summer wine! This wine has a sweet, fruity smell of apples and melon with a slight vegetal aroma. The flavor fills your mouth with refreshing taste of lemon, lime, honeydew and a little green pepper. It is off dry on the palette with a medium finish. Definitely a great accompaniment to a white fish with a light butter sauce.
