This is an interesting wine from the Marlborough region of New Zealand that is known for their great Sauvignon Blanc. The nose of the wine is pronounced with wonderful floral and citrus flavors. On the palate, the wine surprised us with bell pepper, cucumber and a crisp clean finish. These flavors will throw many consumers off but delight others. The 2007 Pinot Gris offers a fresh bouquet of pear with a hint of green apple while providing a refreshing finish. A bit dry yet this Pinot Gris left with a surprisingly floral characteristics touch.
This Pinot Gris would set nicely with a halibut or Salmon dish, or with a Cheese and fruit platter. I would also recommend this Pinot Gris with a light creamed pasta dish.
The 2007 Pinot Gris has a nice bottle range of $10 to $14 making it easy to have on hand for most occasions. - JD
